A family in Lake Worth was stunned when a Ford Explorer crashed through their front foyer on South C Street and Sixth Avenue South on Monday morning.
The homeowners were not injured, however, the driver of the SUV was taken to hospital. Officials say the driver, whose name was not released, may have been impaired at the time of car crash and did not have a license.
Around 7:15 a.m. the SUV was headed westbound on Sixth Avenue South when it crashed through the front foyer of the home on the corner of the intersection; the car stopped after hitting a tree. Eric Mercado and his partner were home sleeping when they heard the crash. The SUV barely missed them as the right side of the truck brushed up against their bedroom wall.
In the front yard various items from the couples home were scattered; the foyer was only used for storage. Although neither resident was injured nor were their three dogs, they couldn’t find their pet cat.
The driver of the SUV will face criminal charges, according to a Palm Beach County sheriffs spokeswoman.
