Johnson & Johnson subsidiary and pelvic mesh manufacturer, Ethicon, Inc., advised the FDA that it is recalling four of its Pelvic Floor Repair Systems. The manufacturer has requested 120 days to “cease commercialization” of its products, notify customers and allow physicians and hospitals time to choose different treatment options for patients who suffer from stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
In addition, Ethicon plans to discontinue or change its marketing materials as needed and intends to revise product labeling to limit the use of certain products to abdominal procedures.
If you or a loved one was implanted with a Johnson and Johnson Gynecare mesh or another vaginal mesh implant and experienced mesh erosion or other complications, you may be entitled to compensation. To begin exploring your legal options, complete the Free Case Evaluation form on this page.
Pelvic Mesh Lawsuits
With over 600 lawsuits alleging that pelvic mesh systems caused internal injuries, Ethicon has announced that it will be taking four of these products off the market. The four vaginal mesh products include:
- Gynecare TVT Secur System
- Gynecare Prolift Pelvic Floor Repair System
- Gynecare Prosima Pelvic Floor Repair System
- Gynecare Prolift+M Pelvic Floor Repair System
This is an important step forward for the thousands of women who have suffered and continue to suffer because of these vaginal mesh products, as well as an action that will likely save many other women from receiving these products in the future for conditions such as pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.
